or·gan·iz·er / a person who organizes
Dylan Harper is a qualified licensed electrician in the marketplace, a strong leader in the church, and organizer for the Misfit Generation Young Adults Conference. He is a Victory Bible College graduate, part-time staff member at Hope Fellowship, full time husband & father, and currently studying to pursuing a call to full-time ministry. His passion is helping fellow followers of Jesus discover their true identity in Christ, seeing them develop into the mighty men & women of God who they’re called to be in this world.
He is thrilled & blessed to be leading Ignite Young Adults at Hope Fellowship CRC alongside his wife Jessica & brother-in-law Nigel, as well as bringing leadership to several other ministries within the church. Together, they are helping others develop passionate relationships with Jesus, transforming lives one at a time through worship, preaching of the Word, Bible studies, and fellowship.
This is the second annual Misfit Generation Conference that Dylan is organizing, and he has high hopes that each year God will take us ‘misfits’ deeper and deeper into understanding who we are and how we are called to live in this world. It is with the utmost of pleasure, grace, and love from our Father in heaven that he has the opportunity to organize this event once again.
Nigel Broersma is the part time interim worship director at Hope Fellowship and the main worship leader for the Misfit Generation Conference. He also holds a full time job in marketing outside the church. He helps lead a young adults group and is a worship leader on several praise teams in the local Durham region. He is always willing to serve and loves what he does. He is a funny guy with a weird smile for every occasion. You’ll meet him and then be like wow that is one weird guy 😉
My name is Jessica Harper and I love to plan & decorate parties & events. All those little touches that often go unnoticed, those are what seem to matter to me! That’s why I’m thrilled to be designing the visuals & decor for the Misfit Generation Conference.
Our theme for Misfit is someone going against the grain, doing what is opposed & even discouraged by the world and being bold and confident in the life Christ has set out for us. When we started planning our theme 2 years ago we took what we thought were misfit fruits, plants & animals. For our first year pineapples, this year cactus’, and next year flamingos. Little did we know how over populated these items would become! Maybe it’s prophetic?! We as Christians are set apart, called out to follow God’s voice instead of the worlds.
Eventually people will see that difference and know who we are, and who knows, maybe that will catch on and ignite those living around us to follow on our path of seeking first the kingdom of God! Or, maybe God knows we are on a tight budget and He is just providing us our decor items in abundance on sale 😉 Either way, I am thrilled to design this years conference and can’t wait to share it all with you!
